Wrestling coach arrested for OWI and drug charges

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The wrestling coach at Iowa City Regina High School has been indefinitely suspended from his job after being arrested on OWI and drug charges.

Iowa City Police arrested Thomas Patrick Howe, 25 of Iowa City, in the early morning hours of January 6, 2010.

He was charged with 2nd Offense Operating While Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana.

Chet Wisniewski, Activities Director at Regina, says that Howe has been indefinitely suspended from his job as the wrestling coach.

Brandon Young, one of Howe's assistant's, will take over as the interim head coach.

Wisniewski says that the school does have the option of bringing Howe back after the investigation is complete.

Howe is the third Eastern Iowa high school coach to be arrested on drug charges in the last couple of months.
