#23 Iowa State rolls South Dakota 68-43

AMES (KWWL) -- The 23rd-ranked Iowa State women's basketball team closed out the nonconference schedule with a 68-43 win over South Dakota Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones had another solid shooting night and an outstanding performance on the glass.

Denae Stuckey led the Cyclones with a career-high 13 points and nearly collected the first double-double of her career with nine rebounds and four assists. She was 2-of-2 from beyond the arc and 4-of-6 from the field. Anna Prins was the only other ISU player in double figures with 10 points. She also had a pair of three-pointers for ISU. Kelsey Bolte and Chelsea Poppens chipped in nine points each and Chassidy Cole added eight.

Iowa State shot 46 percent from the field, including a 56 percent shooting mark in the first half. The Cyclones were 8-for-19 from long range and 14-of-19 from the charity stripe. ISU outrebounded South Dakota, 46-21. The Coyotes were led by Abby Kinder with 12 points and five rebounds.

"We are excited to be 12-1 at this point, and the nonconference schedule is over," ISU head coach Bill Fennelly said. "I'm proud of our players for getting to this point. Stuckey without question was the best player on the floor for us tonight. That might be the first time she's ever been our leading scorer."

The Cyclones will open the Big 12 slate Saturday when they face 12th-ranked and undefeated Nebraska at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The Huskers are 13-0 after the nonconference season.
