Boil order issued in parts of Riverside

Posted:

RIVERSIDE (KWWL) -- Parts of the City of Riverside are under a 48 hour boil order.

Effective immediately, residents who live on 4th Street from Washburn to Boise Street must boil their water for the next 48 hours because of a water main break.

Here's what you should do when a boil order is issued:

- Strain the water through either a cheesecloth, coffee filter, or other clean, porous material to remove as many solid particles and dirt as possible;

- Bring the water to a rolling boil for 1 minute;

- Let the water cool. Pour into a container that has been boiled or sanitized with chlorine bleach;

- To preserve the quality of the water, refrigerate the water until use.

The city expects the boil order to be in place until at least noon on 1/7/10.

For more information, call the city office at 319-648-3501.
