Coach Klinge Career Win Record Moves to 940

And now, it's up to 940 victories. Yes. Coach Gene Klinge's Waukon girls have won again.

Saturday night, January 2, Waukon High School Girls Basketball Coach Gene Klinge became Iowa's all-time winningest high school basketball coach. Coach Klinge won his 939th career victory Saturday at the US Cellular Center, as Waukon beat M-F-L, Mar-Mac--his alma mater. Monday night, Kilinge's Waukon Indians were victorius once again, giving him victory number 940.

The two victories send Gene Klinge into the Iowa record book and past the late coach Bob Mullen, who scored garnered 939 victories in his long career. Klinge has been coaching 47 years, including 41 years at West Central of Maynard, and the past  6 at Waukon, where his Waukon Indians won the Iowa Class 3A State Championship in his first year.
