WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Vasectomy is an effective form of birth control for many couples -- the procedure works 99 percent of the time.
But a new study finds nearly half of men who have the surgery don't return for follow-up testing to make sure they're not part of the one percent of patients whose vasectomy fails.
Researchers looked at the medical records of over 200 vasectomy patients and found 46 percent did not go back for a semen analysis -- the only way to make sure the procedure was a success.
