Iowa State arrives in Arizona

PHOENIX (KWWL) -- The Iowa State football team arrived in Tempe, Arizona on Sunday in preparation for their New Year's Eve Insight Bowl match up with Minnesota.

The Cyclones left a snowy Des Moines airport about 9:00 AM and arrived in Phoenix about 3 and a half hours later.  Soon after, the team left for Corona del Sol High School in Tempe for their first practice in Arizona, which Coach Paul Rhoads says didn't exactly go well.

"It was sloppy as I knew it would be.  If I was coaching a position or coordinating a side of the ball I probably would have been a little bit more upset," says Rhoads, "but this is just about what I expected for this first one.  That's why you show up the time that you do.  Tomorrow when we step on the field for a practice that you can't waste we'll be ready to go, and we won't go through this again."

Iowa State and Minnesota are slated to kickoff the Insight Bowl in Tempe on January 31st at 5:00 Iowa time.
