Celebrate Safely

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Call it a "Scrooge" mentality if you want. But after a few days of holiday activities, by Christmas night many people are more than ready for a change of scenery.

General Manager at Jameson's Public House Shaylin Marti explained, "they spend all their day cooking and unwrapping gifts and all that kind of stuff. So it's nice to get out after that and see some new faces! And different entertainment I guess instead of the same old Christmas shows on TV over and over again."

Marti is preparing for a festive evening of live music, and good friends. She's also ready to handle the patrons who get a little too merry.

"We take care of our customers, in that we call them a cabs," she said.

First Call Taxi driver Ryan Clark noted, "they're always telling me - you're a lot cheaper than an OWI."

If you are planning to take a taxi, drivers recommend you bring a little patience along for the ride. They're not rushing on these roads.

"We make sure they have plenty of time to get from Point A to Point B," said Yellow Cab owner Dina Grimson.

Clark agreed, "we've got some pretty good drivers, they take their time on this stuff."

And even if it takes a little longer, knowing you have a safe ride frees you up to let loose at your home away from home.

"There will be a lot of people coming down that have stores to share about their friends and family that have been around for the holidays. So I'm anxious for that. It should be a good night!" said Marti.

Cab drivers recommend you give them a call about 45 minutes before you want to arrive at your destination, and it helps if you're ready to leave before the bar closes.
