WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Along with kids come their adorable clothing, toys, and supplies. However the price of those items is not-so-adorable.
But what if you could find items almost as good as new for half the price? KWWL anchor and new mom Sunny Layne shows us how we can get more for less.
Want to give your child the best but don't want to pay a premium?
"I talked with a lady who was upset with herself," the owner of Two 4 Tots said. "She said, 'I don't know why I didn't come here first!'"
The Waterloo owner of children's consignment store Two 4 Tots says 'no problem.'
"They know kids will grow out of things fast," owner Emilie Hardy said. "They're looking for name brand clothing they will get at half the price."
In a tight economy, Hardy says you really can get more for less. These baths retail for $35.99 and up.
"You can get baths right now on sale for 3.75," Hardy said.
Or baby socks...
"These resell for $5.99 to $9.99 a bag, anywhere from 30 to 50 pair of socks in a bag."
hardy says that's a savings of about forty dollars from retail.
As for Baby Einstein videos...
"They will not make your child an Einstein," Hardy said. "But if you need 15 minutes to take a shower, they retail anywhere from $14.99 to $19.99 and we sell them for $6.99."
"'Bundle me' retails for $42.50, you can get them here for $14.99."
As for popular Boppy pillows you can save half the price.
"The name brand is usually about $14, $15.99 at our store," Hardy said.
This crib set includes the lamp, the valance, the blanket, the diaper holder, wall hangings, sheet, it retails for about $300. But here you can pick up the entire set for $85.99.
"Bounce and Spin Zebra was huge two Christmases ago, it retails at $49.99 you can get him here for $26.99," Hardy said.
You can even find normally high-priced carriers.
"Baby Bjorn, that one retails for $80. You can get it here for $30. It's good for moms busy cleaning the house and still keeps baby close to you."
And you can get a steal on kids' jeans...
"We usually sell between 20 and 80 pair of jeans a day. One of the best prices of the store. $4.99 and $14.99. Quite a bit of savings, between $20 to $30 dollars per pair," Hardy said.
Shopping consignment pays off, when you know where to go you really can get more for less.
