Republican field for Governor's race gets smaller

BOONE (KWWL) -- Another Republican candidate for Governor has pulled his name from the hat.

State Senator Jerry Behn said Tuesday that he is withdrawing from the race and will endorse former Governor Terry Branstad.

Behn says, "While I believe I could have made a real difference in these areas as governor, I am stepping aside to focus on electing Terry Branstad as our next Governor."

While Branstad is not expected to make his run for office official until January, he welcomes the support and says Behn will be instrumental in his campaign.

Behn, a farmer from rural rural Boone County, was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1996.
