Teen smoking rates in Wisconsin continue to decline

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- In a recent survey, 44 percent of Wisconsin high school students told the state Department of Public Instruction they had smoked a cigarette at least once in their life. That's down from 64 percent in 2001.

17 percent of teens reported smoking within the past month. That's down from 32 percent in 1993

The survey of more than 2,400 students in 57 public high schools this spring is part of a larger national effort to study risky behaviors conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
