Drakesville man charged with attempted murder

SEYMOUR (AP) -- The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation says a Drakesville man has been arrested on charges tied to an October chase in the southern Iowa community of Seymour.

Investigators from the DCI and Davis County sheriff's office arrested Justin R. Jacob on Friday on outstanding warrants including attempted murder. He was taken to the Wapello County Jail, where he was held on $51,950 bond.

The arrest followed an Oct. 15 chase that ended when Jacob allegedly used his vehicle to strike an Iowa State Patrol car driven by trooper Chris Spencer. An officer then shot Jacob, who was treated for his injuries and later released.

The chase ended on Seymour Community Schools property and officials opted to cancel classes for the day.
