Police ask neighbors to report suspicious activity

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A number of residential burglaries has police asking neighbors to help neighbors.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department says they have a had a number of burglaries in the northwest quadrant near Daniels Park.  They say on a number of occasions neighbors actually saw suspicious people walking through the neighborhood with TV's under blankets but did not report the activity until police were contacted by the victims.

They ask that if you see suspicious activity, report it immediately to the police by calling 9-1-1.

They also remind people not to leave anything valuable in their cars.

Police see a rise in vehicle break-ins this time of year and warn people not to leave purses, electronics, gifts and other valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle.

Large parking lots near shopping centers, apartment complexes and movie theaters are big targets for thieves.

Take an extra minute to put your valuables in the trunk or out of sight.
