Kennard Banks suspended from Insight Bowl

AMES (KWWL) -- Kennard Banks, defensive back for the Iowa State Cyclones, will not play in the Insight Bowl on New Years Eve in Tempe, Arizona.

Banks has been suspended for violating team rules.

Banks, a senior from Boynton Beach, Florida, started 12 games this season.  He racked up 55 tackles, one interception and broke up five passes.

Cyclone Head Coach Paul Rhoads says Banks will not participate in any bowl activities and considers Banks' Cyclone career over.

Banks got into trouble back in September along with teammates Kevin Hamlin and Cleyon Laing after violating the athletics department's student-athlete discipline policy.

The trio turned themselves in to police after police found marijuana in their apartment while executing a search warrant.
