Trial date set in Mark Becker's eluding case

ALLISON (KWWL) -- The man accused of killing Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas will face charges of eluding police in a trial now scheduled for March.

Judge Christopher Foy set Mark Becker's trial for March 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Butler County.

Becker is accused of threatening a Cedar Falls man and damaging his garage on June 20, 2009.

Police say Becker then led them on a chase.

Becker was admitted to a Waterloo hospital for evaluation after his arrest and was released on June 23, 2009.

Authorities say it was the next morning that Becker allegedly shot his former football coach Ed Thomas.

Becker is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Thomas.

A trial date has not been set in that case.
