WATERLOO (KWWL) - A grand jury is convening this week at the Black Hawk County Courthouse.

This was confirmed with Black Hawk County court administration.

There is only one grand jury convening at the courthouse currently.

Court administration would not confirm if this grand jury was connected with the Eric Rule shooting death investigation. An employee said that court administration cannot release specific information about the grand jury.

Black Hawk County Attorney Tom Ferguson told KWWL that he neither confirms nor denies that there is a grand jury currently taking place at the courthouse.

On Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 2:18 a.m., Waterloo Police officers were sent to 611 Keystone Street on the report of a domestic dispute between a male and a female.

Shortly after the officers arrived, a struggle ensued between the male subject and the two officers.  When attempts by officers to get Eric Rule under control failed, a Waterloo Police Officer shot him.

Steven Bose and Jamie Sullivan were the Waterloo police officers involved in the shooting.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called in to investigate this incident.
