Arrests made in month-long copper theft investigation

FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office closed a month long investigation Wednesday after making four arrests for breaking into a residential storage building and taking over $4,500 worth of copper.

The Sheriff's Office arrested and charged Chad M. Halverson, age 31 of Postville, David M Heidt age 38 of Randalia, Kristy R Heidt age 41 of Randalia and Gregory D Winter age 46 of Postville for burglary in the third degree. A warrant for the arrest of Shane Alen Bratten was issued for burglary in the third degree.

The Black Hawk and Allamakee County Sheriff's office assisted the Fayette County Sheriff's Office in this investigation. As a result of this investigation, more charges could be filed on Halverson in Allamakee County for evidence collected upon his arrest at his home in rural Postville. All charged are a class "D" felony and if convicted could face up to five years in prison.
