Brighton man sentenced on child porn charges

DAVENPORT (KWWL) -- A Brighton man will spend 20 years in prison after being convicted on federal child pornography charges.

Lee Michael Ehret, formerly Lee Michael Franzen, 26, was given the maximum sentence available for one count of Receiving and Distributing Child Pornography.

United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt called Ehret "a dangerous pedophile who can't control himself".

The federal investigation of Ehret began when he brought his computer to a friend for repairs.

That friend, along with two of his relatives, found child pornography on the computer and notified authorities.

A forensic examination of the computer unearthed numerous images of child pornography, including some of known child victims previously identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Ehret admitted he got the images through chat rooms and Limewire.

Authorities then examined Ehret's cell phone and found contact information for numerous young girls.

They also found that Ehret had collected clothing for young girls, including panties and socks.

Ehret also admitted to contacting an 18-year-old woman from Pennsylvania who was attempting to sell her 2-year-old daughter.  Ehret said the woman offered him $300 to come to Pennsylvania and take the child back to Iowa to live with him.   He agreed, but said the woman never sent the money.

Ehret will also serve 20 years of supervised release and will pay $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

His 20 year federal sentence will run consecutively to his state sentence for Lascivious Acts with a Child that was handed down on April 6, 2009 in Jefferson County for molesting an 11-year old girl in 2006.
