Curfew coming to Iowa City

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The Iowa City City Council passed a juvenile curfew into law Tuesday in a 4-3 vote in its third and final reading.

Our coverage partners at the Iowa City Press Citizen report, voting for it were Connie Champion, Matt Hayek, Mike Wright, Mike O'Donnell. Voting no were Ross Wilburn, Amy Correia and Mayor Reginia Bailey.

Violation of the ordinance is a simple misdemeanor carrying a $50 fine.

The law would call for children 13 and younger to be home by 10 p.m., 14- and 15-year-olds by 11 p.m. and 16- and 17-year-olds by midnight.
