Long joins Gill at Kansas

LAWRENCE, KANSAS (KWWL) -- Former Hawkeye quarterback Chuck Long is the new offensive coordinator of the Kansas Jayhawks.  Long was one of the first hires by Turner Gill, the new coach of the Jayhawks who was introduced Monday afternoon.

Long was previously the head coach at San Diege State, but was fired after going 9-27 in 3 seasons with the Aztecs.  Prior to that he was offensive coordinator for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma.

As a Hawkeye, Long led Iowa to the 1986 Rose Bowl, and finished second to Bo Jackson in the Heisman race that season.
