Man sentenced for Dubuque Labor Day stabbing

DUBUQUE (KWWL - TH) - One of the brothers arrested in connection with a fatal Labor Day stabbing in Dubuque has been sentenced to up to seven years in prison.

Our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald say Joseph Wright pleaded guilty to assault while participating in a felony and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon at a hearing in Dubuque County District Court this morning.

Wright was arrested following a large street fight near 16th and Washington streets on Sept. 7. His brother, Jerel, pled not guilty earlier this month to second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 24-year-old Jermaris West.
