Iowa Schools Benefit from Microsoft Settlement

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Iowa schools are receiving more than $60 million dollars from a lawsuit settlement with one of the nation's stop computer companies.

Governor Chet Culver said more than one thousand schools are eligible to apply for money from Microsoft Corp.  The Hawkeye state is getting a total of $180 million dollars for consumers and businesses who claim Microsoft overcharged them for computer products.

The money is being distributed in January.  Schools can apply for vouchers in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $450,000.
