December 5 is the date to celebrate the annual Cedar Rapids Fire & Ice Festival.  The Cedar Rapids Downtown District and The Freedom festival will sponsor a host of Fire & Ice events, and provide some free parking for downtown Cedar Rapids visitors.

As a reminder the 3rd and 4th Avenue Parking Ramps will be free and open to the public as well as handicapped accessible parking available in the City of Cedar Rapids Parking Lot #24 (next to Brick's along 2nd Avenue SE).

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR DECEMBER 5:

 ALL DAY: Downtown businesses are encouraged to decorate their store front window and participate in voting for best display! Holiday patrons are encouraged to view the windows and vote via Facebook under Cedar Rapids Downtown District for their favorite small and large business display.

2:30p.m.  Afternoon Activities at Banker Trust Plaza (210 3rd Ave. SE)  Take a free horse and carriage ride, see fire juggling, watch an artist sculpt ice into holiday masterpieces

3p.m.-7p.m.: 5th Annual Chili Challenge (Armstrong Centre Food Court 222 3rd Ave. SE) Some healthy competition from local individuals and businesses with guest judges and great specials for patrons to enjoy! Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids-includes chili, beverage and cookies

5p.m. S'mores & Popcorn (Guaranty Bank 302 3rd Avenue SE)

5p.m. City of Cedar Rapids Lighting of Holiday Tree (1st Avenue and 1st Street SE)

 6:00 p.m.: Holiday DeLight Parade (Starting at 6th Street SE and  2nd Avenue  This year's theme is Dashing Through Downtown! Enjoy the lighted parade and greet local businesses, organizations and neighbors.

 Post Parade: Santa Meet-and-Greet (Smulekoffs 1st Street SE)  Families can meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves, and reindeer post parade to share your holiday wish list

 7:00p.m.:  Ugly Holiday Sweater Party (Volume 329 2nd Avenue)  Bust out your holiday best and be prepared to strut your holiday gear at 8 p.m. for a best of contest. Patrons have free admission with an optional $5 contest fee. No need to RSVP but feel free to pre-register at hooplanow.com.  Must be 21 to attend. Hosted by ImpactCR and the Downtown District with sponsored support from Fleck, Hoopla and Z102.9
