Toys for Tots helping eastern Iowa families

WATERLOO (KWWL) - A tough economy makes putting presents under the tree this year a challenge for some families.

However, one group is trying to make sure every child gets at least one present.

Toys for Tots is a national program that is run locally by the Cedar Falls Exchange Club, the Salvation Army, and Saint Vincent DePaul.

Salvation Army applications for receiving presents are due Monday.

Applications through Saint Vincent DePaul are due Dec. 9th.

"I can't imagine how a parent feels when they can't suppy that and as a community we've been very good about supporting in the past and I know that will happen again this year," said C.F. Exchange Club member Joanne Heath.

Last year, the program gave presents to more than 2000 kids.

You can drop off an unwrapped toy at any of the 60 drop off sites in Black Hawk County including the KWWL studios at 500 E. 4th Street in Waterloo.
