Black Hawks drop Roughriders for third straight win

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) – The Waterloo Black Hawks outscored Cedar Rapids 3-1 in the first period en route to a 6-3 victory over the Roughriders.

Dan Sova got the scoring going for Waterloo firing the puck into the back of the net from the blue line.  The Roughriders evened the score as Bryce Aneloski took advantage of traffic in front of the net, stuffing the puck in the goal.

Waterloo took the lead for good as Brock Montpetit weaved through the Roughrider defense before stuffing one home.  Montpetit scored for the second time of the night just minutes later as Sova hit him with a pass coming out of the penalty box resulting in a breakaway goal.

Patrick Divjak added a second and third period goal, while Tyler Barnes notched the other Black Hawk score.  The victory is the third straight for Waterloo as they next host Indiana Saturday night.
