IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Shop the Farmers Market for your holiday menu and handmade gift items.

Iowa City is holding its second Holiday Farmers Market during the 2009 season. They are adding the Recreation Center Social Hall (located on the upper level) to our venue allowing 20 more vendors to attend, bringing the total to 85 vendors. They will have food vendors set up in our game room serving breakfast and lunch items as well as kettle corn. Vendors will also have fresh produce, baked goods, spices, sauces, candy, coffee, jams, jellies and pork available for sale. You can pick up those last minute gifts from our vendors selling candles, pet treats and toys, jewelry, greeting cards, wood crafts, pottery, embroidered and tie-dyed clothing, blankets, rugs and purses. Admission is free.

Parents can enjoy shopping the Holiday Market while the kids join in on the holiday fun and celebrate the spirit of the season during our Holiday Craft Workshop. A variety of materials and ideas will be used for holiday gift making. Make your own gifts, cards and more! This workshop will meet on Saturday, December 12, 10 am-noon and again from noon-2pm.

Registration may be made in advance for the Holiday Craft Workshop at the Recreation Division office or at the door. The fee is $10.00 for residents of Iowa City and $15.00 for non-residents.

For more information about the Holiday Farmers Market or the Holiday Craft Workshop contact the Recreation Division at 356-5100.
