South Winn falls to CB-Saint Albert 35-0 in 1A title game

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- South Winneshiek's first attempt at a state championship football game could have gone better.  The Warriors were overwhelmed by Council Bluff's Saint Albert's speed and fell 35-0 to claim the state runner up trophy.

South Winn's powerful running game was stifled in the first half as the Warriors were unable to gain a first down in the first 24 minutes.  Saint Albert took advantage of good field position during that period to score 3 unanswered touchdowns capped by Jake Waters one yard sneak to take a 21-0 halftime lead.

The Warriors offensive attack improved in the final half as they managed 7 first downs, but were uanable to dent the scoreboard in the ballgame.  South Winn finishes with a 12-2 overall record.
