Hockey Returns to Dubuque

Posted:

Dubuque (KWWL)  The United States Hockey League is adding a team in Dubuque for the 2010-11 season.

The league made the announcement Thursday, marking the return of the USHL to the city. The Dubuque Fighting Saints competed in the junior hockey circuit from 1980 to 2001 and won three league championships.

The franchise will be run by the ownership group Northern Lights Hockey. The group's principal owner, Philip Falcone, is also a part owner of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.

The new team, which doesn't have a name yet, will play at the Mystique Ice Center, a new 3,200-seat arena that broke ground earlier this month.
