UPDATE: Missing man found, authorities say he jumped from train

NORWAY (KWWL) -- The Benton County Sheriff's Office confirms that a man missing since Saturday, November 14, 2009 has been found.

Family members tell KWWL that 22-year old John Skalsky, Jr. was found late this morning in a ditch east of Norway.

The family tells KWWL that John is talking but not moving.  He has been transferred to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic.

Authorities say Skalsky had said he was walking from Blairstown to Norway near the Union Pacific Railroad tracks on Saturday, but never made it to Norway.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says they now believe that Skalsky jumped on an eastbound train outside of Blairstown and rode it to Norway where he then jumped off just outside of Norway.

Dozens of volunteers spent the better part of Tuesday morning combing the countryside between the towns. Skalsky's family and friends gathered at the Blairstown Fire Department, got their instructions on where to search, and headed out.

The on-foot search was called off Tuesday afternoon.

Family and friends organized another search Wednesday morning.
