Sports Heart Stress

This story might hit home for many Hawkeye fans.

The annual meeting of the American Heart Association is underway in Orlando and at the top of researchers' agenda: keeping your heart safe during the "big" game!

Researchers in China studied nearly 40 men who had suffered a heart attack -- half watched entertainment news, the other half watched clips from the Olympics.

They found when sports matches were close the participants' blood pressure increased, their heart rate was variable, and their risk for blood clots went up.  All factors that increase the risk for another heart attack.
