Solon beats North Fayette to advance to Championship

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - According to our coverage partner the Iowa City Press-Citizen, top-ranked and undefeated Solon advanced to the 2A Championship game. It beat No. 2  Fayette Monday at the UNI-Dome by score of 35-0.

The newspaper reports that James Morris ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another touchdown, 70 yards to Dean Klosterman. Wes Sleeper threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Loveless for the fifth touchdown. The 35-point lead at halftime triggered a continuous clock in the second half. Every one of Solon's games this season has seen a continuous clock for all or part of the second half.

The Press-Citizen reports that Solon's defense completely shut down the powerful North Fayette rushing game, which came in averaging more than 400 yards per game. The Hawks have been held to 48 yards rushing and just three first downs.
