SE Iowa town wants less train noise

BURLINGTON (KWWL) - Train noise can be a nuisance, so one Iowa town is trying to cut down on the noise.  The city of Burlington is working on a quiet zone design.  This includes safety modifications on downtown grade crossings and closing three others.  The Federal Railroad Administration will inspect the work in early December.  If there are no objections, the city will be awarded "quiet zone" status.  The city has been working on a noise-reduction plan for almost two years and hopes it will lead to more residential development downtown.
