On purpose fish kill

EVANSDALE (KWWL) –Meyer’s Lake is outlined by a trail of dead fish, but this is on purpose.

The lake was over populated by undesirable fish like bullheads which took away food from game fish.

Over a month ago, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) drained the lake and chemically treated to kill the fish with a chemical called Rotenone. Rotenone is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and neutralizes with in days.

The DNR will be restocking the lake with game fish in the next few weeks.

The DNR asked city officials to repair the drain pipe that originally let the undesirable fish in.
