UPDATE: Friday the 13th unlucky for two robbers

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Police say Friday the 13th turned out to be unlucky for two would-be bank robbers.

They say around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, two black men walked into the Collins Community Credit Union 1755 1st Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids.

Both men had their faces covered and one had a gun.

When they walked into the credit union, they were met by Officer Harvey Caldwell, a 28 year veteran of the Cedar Rapids Police Department who was working his second job doing security for the credit union.

The two men saw Caldwell as they were walking in, turned around and ran away.

They were last seen running westbound in the alley between 1st and 2nd Avenues SW.

No money was taken and no one was hurt.

The two are described as black males, mid twenties, dark clothing, bandanas over their face and one was displaying a gun.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
