Linn County (KWWL) -- Toys for Tots kicks off their annual toy drive on Monday, November 9, 2009, in Linn County.

Residents are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys to one of the many collection sites across Linn County including the Cedar Rapids and Marion Wal-Mart stores.

A complete list of drop box locations can be found by visiting www.crtoyshop.org.  The website also includes suggested toy ideas for children of all ages.  The program serves ages birth through 17.

The Salvation Army expects to help more than 1,500 families this year.

Last year organizers collected and distributed over 20,000 toys to needy children throughout Linn County.

Monetary donations will also be accepted payable to the Toys For Tots Foundation c/o The Salvation Army, 1000 C Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, 52405.

Toy collection runs November 9 - December 11.  For more information on how you can help, contact Lindsay Hand, Director of Social Services for The Salvation Army, at 319-364-9131.
