Michelle Kehoe found guilty

GRUNDY CENTER (KWWL) -- A Grundy County jury found Michelle Kehoe guilty of First Degree Murder, Attempted Murder and Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury Thursday in less than two hours.

Prosecutors say Kehoe drove her two sons, Seth and Sean, to the Hook and Liner pond outside of Littleton in rural Buchanan County on October 26, 2008 to carry out a murder-suicide.

Police say she slit the throats of both boys and then her own.

Two year-old Seth died as a result of the injuries.

Sean, who was seven at the time, survived the attack.

The case was moved from Buchanan County to Grundy County because the defense and a judge determined through a mock jury that Kehoe could not receive a fair trial in Buchanan County because of pre-trial publicity.

The trial started in Grundy County back on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 with jury selection.

Throughout the course of the trial, jurors heard testimony from an EMT, a clerk at the convenience store she stopped at before the attack, a psychiatrist from the prosecution who says Kehoe is not insane and knew what she was doing and a psychologist for the defense who says that Kehoe's troubled past lead to her doing the unthinkable.

Sentencing will be December 15, 2009 in Buchanan County.
