Fire on U of I campus

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Rescue crews in Iowa City were called to the scene of a fire at a building on the University of Iowa campus.

Crews were called to the Iowa House Hotel at the Iowa Memorial Union around 2:30 a.m. When they made entry, crews encountered smoke in the hotel and the IMU building. Water was also flowing through the floors to the lobby of the Iowa House.  Fire crews evacuated the building.

The fire was found in a fourth-floor utility room. Crews quickly put out the fire. 33 rooms were occupied at the time of the fire. They were all moved to other hotels in Iowa City. No one was injured. There was damage on the four floors below the utility room. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
