No winner in Waterloo mayor's race

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Voters in Waterloo will head back to the polls December 1 to decide the city's next mayor. Buck Clark received 44% of the vote but that's not enough to gain a simple majority so he'll take on Steve Schmitt in the December 1 election. Both men say they'll ramp up their campaigns over the next month and each says it'll be easier to take on one opponent instead of two.

"What we're going to have to do is ramp up and work to December 1 to get the vote out again. I think we have a message that resonates. I represent working class people in Waterloo. We'll continue that message," said Clark.

"We've got hundreds of more yard signs we couldn't use because they emphasize Schmitt. Now, there's only one Schmitt running so that'll help but we intend to be very engaged for the next month," said Steve Schmitt.

Both men say they'll be cordial in their campaigns but they say there's a clear difference between each candidate.
