CR Washington Defeats CR Kennedy, Again

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- In Cedar Rapids, it was a re-match of intercity rivals as Cedar Rapids Washington hosted Cedar Rapids Kennedy at Kingston Stadium.

In the regular season match-up, Washington upeneded the Cougars 44 - 6.  This one would end up much closer.

On the Cougars first drive of the game, Jed Haycraft gets the ball, but he coughs it up and Evan Davis recovers it for the Warriors.

Four plays later, it's a direct snap to Andre Dawson and number 4 runs it up the middle 32 yards for the 6 nothing Warrior lead.  The extra point would be no good.

Now to the 2nd quarter, Warriors are driving again.

3rd and Goal from the Kennedy 8 yard line, the ball is handed to who else, Dawson, but the Kennedy "D" comes up with the huge stop.

Washington would settle for the field goal, which makes it 9 - 0 Warriors.

Cedar Rapids Washington would go on to beat Kennedy for the second time this season, 16 - 3.

The Warriors will travel to Iowa City High on Friday to take on AJ Derby and the undefeated Little Hawks.

The game is at 7:00 p.m. at Bates Field.
