It's a booming business for Hawkeye vendors

By Jason Epner

IOWA CITY (KWW)-- Each week, the Iowa Hawkeyes continue to stretch their winning streak. It means good news for businesses that sell Hawkeye apparel and souvenirs.

Shirts, hats, even toilet seats--- put the tigerhawk stamp on it, and it won't stay on the shelves very long.

Fans from all over are trying to find a way to be a part of this magical season. It's a good time to be a Hawkeye vendor.

Ron Christensen of Game Day Iowa says more than 90 percent of business for his Hawkeye apparel store is done during football season, and with a potentially prestigious bowl game looming in the future, that means big business.

"I would say the last 2 months of the year will probably be over $100,000 bigger than last year," said Christensen.

Alos finding success is Steve Mcintosh of Imprinted Sportsware/Iowa Apparel.   He, too has seen a larger than normal growth of sales as we approach bowl season.

''With the current success, we are seeing an increase in foot traffic of the sales and just interest in general with hawkeye apparel,'' said Mcintosh.
