Local philanthropists to be honored


(Waterloo, Iowa) October 21, 2009 - National Philanthropy Day is a special day to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy - and those people active in the philanthropic community - have made to our lives and our communities. Charitable giving plays an increasingly important role in our communities. In the United States alone Americans give more than $300 billion annually to help fund valuable programs and services.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Eastern Iowa Chapter is celebrating National Philanthropy Day by honoring Eastern Iowa's philanthropic leaders at an awards luncheon. The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at the Park Place Event Centre, 1521 Technology Parkway in Cedar Falls.  The luncheon and awards ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. concluding at 1:30 p.m. 

The AFP Eastern Iowa Chapter 2009 Award Recipients are as follows:
