Storm dumps snow on Rockies, plains, more forecast

DENVER (AP) -- A slow-moving autumn storm hovering over the Rocky Mountains and western plains isn't done yet.

Before it starts moving out later today, forecasters say the storm could drop up to 4 feet of snow in some high areas in the Rocky Mountains.

Parts of Colorado saw up to 28 inches of snow from the system that shut down schools, delayed flights and caused multi-car pileups.

The storm spread snow from northern Utah to western Nebraska. It's the biggest October snowmaker in the Denver area in more than a decade.

Whiteout conditions are predicted today for the plains areas of eastern Colorado and Wyoming and western Nebraska.

Authorities are urging drivers on icy and snowpacked roads to be patient and take their time.
