Rental help available to Iowans in need

DES MOINES (KWWL)-- A new program will help hundreds of Iowans afford rental homes.

As part of the Federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the state is receiving $11 million for Iowa Rental Help. First Lady Mari Culver made the announcement of the new program Wednesday.

The funds will help those struggling to pay their bills to get assistance, and help homeless individuals and families who are moving into a rental.

Iowa Rental Help provides qualified renters with rent and utility payments for up to 18 months. Those seeking help will be connected with a case manager in the area to determine what benefits they qualify for.
