Police Arrest One, looking for Another in Anhydrous Theft

La Porte City (KWWL) --  A Center Point woman is in custody and police are looking for a man in connection with the theft of anhydrous ammonia from a business.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was called to New Century Farm Service at 3434 East Eagle Road around 6 a.m. on Tuesday in regards to the possible theft. 

The La Porte City Police Department then located a car that was possibly involved in the theft.

The driver, Melinda Hawkins, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Drug Precursor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Anhydrous.

Police also found a tank that had been modified to to hold anhydrous in a ditch near the business. 

A man that police was also involved in the theft was able to run away.  Police searched for the man but were unable to find him.

He has not been identified.
