Corn maze future uncertain for Springville farm

SPRINGVILLE (KWWL)-- An Eastern Iowa agri-tourism business is closing thanks to the poor economy and bad weather.

Knight's Farm near Springville has had kids come to pick pumpkins, pet the animals, and wander through the corn maze for around a decade, but after this year the farm is taking a new route.

The farm saw its business cut in half due to the economy and the weather.

This year, to adjust, owner Gary Knight made the corn maze one-fourth the size of previous years and started offering free admission into the maze.

"But things change the economy changes and there's just some things that we need to change with things as they go," said farm owner, Gary Knight.

Next year, the farm will close to the public while the knights focus on opening a market in Whittier selling fresh produce.
