CASCADE (KWWL) -  The building isn't finished yet, but ribbons were cut Sunday to celebrate the opening of the first grocery store in Cascade in over 3 years.

The store will not be open for a few more months, but the DeVries family wanted a chance to meet the community before the store officially opened.

Cascade's City Council had been trying to recruit a grocery store to come to their community since the last grocery store shut down 3 ½ years ago.

"The problem is that Cascade is right at that threshold where it is not quite big enough to get a name like Fareway into their community.  It's a problem that all small communities are having," said Cascade Mayor Greg Staner.

The City of Cascade offered Brothers Market tax incentives to come to the community.

Brothers Market was started by several brothers from Parkersburg, one of which is Jared DeVries, the former Hawkeye stand-out and defensive lineman for the Detroit Lions.
