Concern over school buses and H1N1

SIOUX CITY (KWWL) -- With all the talk about the H1N1 flu, people are making a more conscious effort to keep their hands and homes germ free. So you might be surprised to hear that some school busses aren't being cleaned after all the kids get off.

Both School Bus Inc. and the Sioux Falls school district are focusing more on keeping people clean rather than the seats.

The bus company says not cleaning the busses isn't creating any extra risk.

"The bug, or whatever, apparently has about a two to eight hour longevity, so by the time the bus sits from afternoon route to morning route, the bug is gone," said Jim Shafer with School Bus Inc.

Both tissues and antibacterial hand gel are available on school busses for students.
