Deadlines for Sending Holiday Mail to Troops Overseas

Posted:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- The U.S. Postal Service has released the deadlines for sending mail and packages to troops overseas for the holidays.

Holiday gifts can be a big morale boost for military members stationed around the globe, and you can get big discounts by shipping early.

For the most economical postage to overseas bases, including Iraq and Afghanistan, the Postal Service recommends shipping by November 13th.

The Postal Service charges domestic mail prices for mail sent overseas to military personnel.  For instance, a Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box costs $11.95 to send to APO/FPO addresses.

"Mailing holiday gifts to service members early will help insure that a piece of home arrives in plenty of time to make the celebration complete," said Pranab Shah, vice president and managing director, Global Business.
