Husband of Iowa's chief justice enters plea

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- The husband of Iowa's chief justice has been sentenced to 12 months probation in connection with an underage drinking party last summer.

Dennis Drake entered an Alford plea to a charge of harassment of a public official.

The plea means Drake acknowledges there is enough evidence to lead to a conviction but does not admit guilt.

He also was fined $65.

Deputies responded to a noise complaint at the Polk County home of Drake and Chief Justice Marsha Ternus on July 12.

Underage possession of alcohol charges against five teens were dismissed.

Two others, including the couple's son, were convicted.
