North Fayette hands Cascade a 40-19 loss

CASCADE (KWWL) - It's like the schedule makers had a crystal ball on this one. Friday second ranked North Fayette and fifth ranked Cascade in week eight for the de facto 2A District 4 championship. Both North Fayette and Cascade come into the contest undefeated. Friday night felt a little bit like deja vu for both teams, considering the last time they met up on the grid iron; the Hawks and the Cougars were both undefeated. Last year, North Fayette pulled off a win at home.

So would tonight be different? Cascade at home. Late in the first quarter, North Fayette gets on the board as Reid Nuss hands it off to Tanner Mork for the 15 yard touchdown and its 7-0.

In the second quarter. If you remember that last play, it worked so well so lets try it again. Nuss hands off to Mork and puts the Hawks up 14-0.

Then with nine seconds left in the first half. Cascade gets on the board with this pass from Connor Redman. He hooks up with Jesse Beringer in the end zone. 21-6 at the half.

Second half action. First drive, Nuss hands off to, you guessed it Tanner Mork again. This time he dodges the Cougar defense and takes it 75 yards, pushing the Hawks to a 27-6 lead after the missed 2 points.

But Cascade wasn't finished. Here they are as Redmond hooks up with Ryan Ressler. It's a 47 yard touchdown. Still 27-13 Hawks. They would do it again a few plays later.

North Fayette would pull it off. 40 to 19. Number 2 beats number 5. When it comes to these two teams, its all about their running game, and North Fayette is celebrating the district title.
