UI student assaulted on campus

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The University of Iowa police report a female student was assaulted in a residence hall bathroom.

Around 3 a.m. on Thursday, a female University of Iowa student was using the men's restroom on the ninth floor of Slater Hall. The woman told police that two men walked in and turned off the lights. One of the men assaulted her and made sexual comments. The woman was able to escape without any injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, average height, with darker hair, dressed in blue jeans and a t-shirt. The other male was shorter and heavier.

UI police say students should stay in groups, avoid isolated areas if alone and use the appropriate restroom facilities.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Iowa City CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS.
